CVAA Members’ EventMonday 20 November 2017
Last week, representatives of 25 voluntary adoption agencies gathered in London for CVAA’s annual members’ meeting. The day’s discussions were opened by Robert Goodwill, Minister of State for Children and Families, who answered members’ questions on the ASF and the regionalisation programme. Delegates also heard from Professor Judy Sebba, Director of the Rees Centre for Research in Fostering and Education, on the outcomes of children from the public care system. Liam Duffy, Director of Commercial Services Innovation at Barnardo’s, spoke about commissioning and partnerships, and invited delegates to consider how the voluntary sector could work with local authorities. Finally, Dr Cheilyn Dance, Research Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University and Dr Ruth Rogers, Reader in Social Justice and Inclusion at the Research Centre for Children, Families and Communities at Canterbury Christ Church University presented their findings on inter-agency adoption and the inter-agency fee, and spoke about means of overcoming barriers to inter-agency placements. Our presenters’ slides are available to members in the members’ area of our website.
