CVAA EVIDENCE SEMINAR IN COLLABORATION WITH UEA: CREATIVE APPROACHES TO CONTACT AND SUPPORTING CONTACTWednesday 28 November 2018
Please see below the presentation from Julie Young, UEA, presented at CVAA’s Evidence Seminar on Monday 9th July 2018; ‘Creative Approaches to Contact and Supporting Contact’. This presentation reviews the evidence from research about different types of contact after adoption with a range of birth relatives. The presentation most heavily draws on two studies carried out at UEA:
- the longitudinal “contact after adoption” study which has looked at the impact of letter and face-to-face contact with adult birth relatives on adopted children, birth relatives, and adoptive parents.
- The “supporting direct contact “study which focused just on face-to-face contact arrangements, drawing largely on the perspectives of adoptive parents and birth relatives (including adult birth siblings). This study had a strong focus on how agencies can best support direct contact arrangements.
Julie introduced to delegates the wealth of resources relating to the above research, available to view by clicking here.
