The CVAA consists of VAAs (Voluntary Adoption Agencies) who agree to provide the services as described in the Membership Agreement and who aspire to maintaining high professional standards.
The CVAA acts as the representative body for the VAAs in representing to central and local government the interests of VAAs, and of the parties to adoption.
The CVAA also liaises with central and local government and with BAAF in devising and maintaining a fee structure for placements which will ensure the funding necessary for the continuation of the voluntary adoption sector. Joint liaison and negotiation re funding enables the VAAs to maximise their voice and to ensure that the sector’s interests are maintained.
The CVAA collects annual and other placement statistics from member agencies in order to represent to central and local government, the voluntary sector’s contribution to the adoption of LAC children.
The CVAA believes that the strength of the VAAs lies in their commitment to continuity of service to adopters and adopted children including, post placement and post adoption services. Accordingly we expect member agencies to demonstrate their commitment to providing ongoing support for adopters and adopted children.
Trustees of the CVAA are elected at the CVAA’s AGM, and are accountable to the membership of the CVAA.
Minutes of all CVAA Executive Committee meetings are circulated to all member agencies.
A special General Meeting of the CVAA will be called if 6 or more members write to the Chairperson of the Executives to request this.
The CVAA is a membership organisation that exists to serve and promote the interests of the voluntary adoption sector. In so doing, the CVAA maintains the interests of children who require adoptive families as its central concern.
