Adoption practitioners and managers (Voluntary Adoption Agencies, Regional Adoption Agencies and Local Authorities) and Independent Professionals.

St David’s Children Society has led on an innovative and award-winning collaboration to develop the Adopting Together Service for children who wait a significant time for an adoptive family. Supported by the National Adoption Service and Welsh Government, since its inception in June 2018, 16 children have been placed through the Service. These children, presenting an array of differing and complex needs, are most at risk of separation from siblings and having their placement order revoked.

The service is unique in that it brings together 4 components into one model–family finding, a team for the child meeting led by a clinical psychologist, transitions work and psychology-led post-adoption support.

Throughout the design and implementation of the service St David’s has worked closely with key partners from across the sector including academia (Cardiff University), a therapeutic partner (The Family Place) colleagues in the regional collaboratives and local authorities and other VAA partners including AUK and Barnardo’s.

At this dynamic practice webinar, participants will have a chance to:

    • explore the opportunities and challenges of collaborative working to develop and maintain new Service
    • develop an understanding of the Adopting Together model
    • receive information about the numbers and characteristics of children referred to the Service
    • explore the development of child-specific recruitment campaigns -its key enablers and inhibitors
    • hear the voices of an adopter and foster carer with direct experience of the Service

You will be able to network with practitioners from other agencies, share best practice and glean new ideas.

A member of staff will be in touch with attendees one week prior to the event to share a pre-event delegate pack.
