Details

The session will discuss PAC-UK education service, support discussion around the issues and difficulties that teenage adoptees may face in education with practical strategies that can address these. We will also hear from the Adopteen’s Service to provide an adoptees voice on what they found difficult in education and what support they found effective.

We will hear from Rebecca Wilkins, Education Practice Manager at PAC-UK and Tanya Killick, Adopteens Project Worker at PAC-UK. 

Moreover, Jane Thompson, Adoption Adviser at CCS Adoption, a founder of the CCS Education Adopter Form and an adoptive parent of teens will also join the session and discuss her professional and personal experience. Jane will discuss:

  • What do adopted teens find most challenging in school;
  • What are the challenges for adopters;
  • How can adoption workers and school staff support adoptive families;
  • Positive outcomes of the CCS Education Adopter Forum and emerging action plan
