4 hours CPD

For

Adoption practitioners and managers (Voluntary Adoption Agencies, Regional Adoption Agencies and Local Authorities) and Independent Professionals.

Details

It is well evidenced that good quality life story work is crucial for adopted children’s narrative identity, emotional well-being and placement stability. The evidence base also confirms that investing in good initial life story work brings a number of long- term benefits to all those in the adoption triangle.

Yet, despite there being a statutory duty on LAs to provide Life Story Books and Later Life Letters, to enable life story work with adopted children they often struggle to deliver these resources.

This workshop will share current research evidence and contemporary practice approaches to life story work which focus on both birth family and adoptive family engagement to facilitate their active participation in life story work for the child.

There will be lots of scope for discussion and practice sharing.
